Susan Gay

President

Susan Gay and her family started coming to Rehoboth Beach in 2001; her two children grew up spending their summer vacations here. Susan has always been enchanted by the small-town feel, the trees, the unique restaurants and shops, all so different from other places. It felt like home the day she arrived! After Susan and her husband bought a home in town in 2014, she immediately became involved with several local organizations, and served on the boards of the Historical Society, SOLA3 and the Country Club Property Owners’ Association in addition to RBHA. Susan was then elected as a City Commissioner, (2019-2022). She is now serving as Vice-Chair of the Planning Commission. Following board service with RBHA from 2014-2019, Susan came back to the RBHA board in 2022 and began her term as president in January 2025.

Professionally, Susan enjoyed 35+ years managing large and small business units in the medical/healthcare information industry. Known for her foresight and vision in creating ground-breaking publications, she published several hundred books, journals and multi-media products. She also served as president of the American Medical Publishers Association, the industry's national trade association.

As the digital era began to fundamentally reinvent medicine and health care delivery, Susan created her own firm to focus on multi-channel content creation, and helping publishers and societies extend their existing portfolios.  During the last few years of her publishing career, Susan changed hats and became an author, where she co-wrote the first social media guide for medical professionals.

Susan is a native of Atlanta. She received her BS degree from Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC and earned a Master’s Degree in Medical Education from Emory University before heading north to begin her long career in publishing, first in Boston and New York, then in the Philadelphia area for the past 40 years.
