Frank E. Gainer retired in 2024 after a 50-year career in occupational therapy. He retired as a US Army Lieutenant Colonel in 2003, after serving for 24 years in various States, West Germany and the Republic of Panama. He was director of rehabilitation services for a large healthcare system in the District of Columbia and spent the last 22 years at the American Occupational Therapy Association. His first trip to Rehoboth Beach was in 1979 – after he finished officer basic training and was assigned to Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He and his husband traveled to Rehoboth Beach every year starting in 1989. They bought a condo in 1998 and then a house in 2007. In 2016 they tore it down and built their forever home – enjoying the joys of planning a new build. They become officially Delawareans in 2025 and are enjoying being full time residents. Their two cats are also enjoying the laid-back lifestyle and spending time on the screened in porch and sunny balconies.
