Celebrating and Recognizing 50 Years of Service --- 1971 to 2021
As we celebrate the RBHA's 50 years of service to the Rehoboth Beach community, we will be adding memorabilia of all types to this page as well as announcing plans for celebrations later in the year. If you would like to contribute thoughts, comments, stories, documents or photos related to the RBHA, please send them to rbhome.org.
Thoughts from Former RBHA President Libby Stiff
The Rehoboth Beach Homeowners Association was initiated in the early summer of 1971. President Wilbur Martin [the first president] expressed the Association’s concerns as:
When I assumed the Presidency in 2005, it was obvious that the Association had conceded its influence to Save Our City, a newly formed Rehoboth PAC. With the Board and especially Hoyte Decker, we set about redefining the RBHA [which included adopting new by-laws, stopping endorsements of political candidates and opening meetings to the public]. We confirmed that the residents wanted to retain the organization and the goals of its founding: Esthetics, Building Size, and Inclusivity. We backed the FAR [Floor-Area-Ratio] of May, 2005. We touched base with Main Street. We reaffirmed our commitment to City Staff. We grew the Website. We hosted County Councilman George Coles meeting with the Association. We found that the RBHA Newsletter was a primary source of local news for residents. We decided that the Association was integral to Rehoboth’s future. And, thankfully, it lives on.
